AMERICAN UNIVERSITY WASHINGTON COLLEGE OF LAW/OAS SCHOLARSHIP

 

The Department of Education, Sustainable Development, Innovation, Science, Technology and Vocational Training informs of the call for applications from desirous persons wishing to pursue a Master of Law Degree in International Human Rights and Humanitarian law at American University Washington College of Law (AUWCL).

 

Scholarship Overview

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for consideration an applicant must:

  • provide an unconditional admission letter from AUWCL;
    • This scholarship is open to new applicants as well as current students at AUWCL who are from an OAS member state, except the United States and not a current OAS-AUWCL scholarship recipient
  • submit a complete scholarship application form with all required supporting documents; and
  • be a citizen and/or permanent legal resident of Saint Lucia;

 

The following applicants are ineligible:

  • Current OAS scholarship recipients;
  • OAS General Secretary, (GS/OAS) staff and their immediate relatives or GS/OAS consultants; and
  • OAS Permanent officials and their immediate relatives.
 

Application process

To apply for the OAS-AUWCL scholarship, applicants are encouraged to read the AUWCL programme details at https://www.wcl.american.edu/impact/initiatives-programs/hracademy/llm/ and adhere to the application requirements as stated at How to Apply - LL.M. Programs - American University Washington College of Law.  Applicants should pay careful attention to the deadline dates stated in the table above.

Applicants must fill out the OAS online Scholarship application form as requested on the OAS – AUWCL link at http://www.oas.org/en/scholarships/default.asp.  Applicants can contact the admissions team at llm@wcl.american.edu for more information about the university’s admission process or email humanrightsllm@wcl.american.edu for program details.

Expenses not covered by the scholarship

  • Remaining 50% of tuition fees;
  • Travel expenses, (if applicable);
  • Mandatory university fees
  • Cost of books and study materials;
  • Health Insurance
  • Graduation expenses
  • Visa expenses, (where applicable); and
  • Any other costs not covered by the scholarship

 

Selection of Awardees

AUWCL and the OAS will select the scholarship awardees based on the criteria listed above.  .  The names of the scholarship recipients will be published in August 2022 on the OAS Scholarship website www.oas.org/scholarhsips. The OAS will contact selected candidates by email with the scholarship offer and instructions for the scholarship acceptance.  Please note that unsuccessful applicants will not be contacted.
