Last Wednesday, officials presented residents with the blueprints for the new infant school.

The Ministry of Education, Human Resource Development and Labor, in collaboration with the Ministry of  Infrastructure, Port Services and Transport, and the Ministry of  Planning and National Development held a stakeholders meeting at the Clendon Mason Memorial Secondary School last Wednesday.

At the meeting, Dennery residents were presented with plans and drawings for the new Dennery Infant School.

Chief Education Officer Marcus Edward addressed the meeting. He thanked the parents and teachers of the Dennery Infant School for their patience, and asked for continued patience as the new school is constructed.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Infrastructure, Allison Jean said that in the aftermath of Hurricane Tomas, all new construction projects have been built in keeping with the philosophy of “building back better.”

The construction of the new infant school is part of Saint Lucia's National Plan, and a priority for the Government of Saint Lucia.

The new school is being funded by the World Bank under the Disaster Vulnerability Reduction Project (DVRP) at a cost of $7.8 Million. The contractor is OB Sadoo Engineering. The project is expected to be completed in 14 months under the supervision of Lee Young and Partners.
