The Ministry of the Public Service, Transport, Information and Utilities Regulation officially launched its annual Summer Employment Program on Monday, July 6, welcoming approximately 100 secondary and tertiary-level students.

The program aims to provide participants with meaningful, hands-on work experience through placements across various government ministries and departments. It is designed to expose students to the professional work environment while helping them develop essential workplace skills and prepare for future careers.

Addressing the students during the orientation session, Assistant Permanent Secretary Augusta Duval-Toussaint warmly welcomed the participants and encouraged them to make the most of the opportunity.

"I encourage each of you to approach this experience with enthusiasm, professionalism and a willingness to learn. The Summer Employment Program plays a vital role in preparing our nation's youth for the world of work by equipping you with practical skills, valuable experience and a deeper understanding of public service. I wish you every success and trust that your time with us will be both rewarding and meaningful.”

At the conclusion of their placement, participants will receive a stipend in recognition of their contribution and commitment during the program. The Ministry looks forward to welcoming a second cohort of students when the Summer Employment Program continues in August, reaffirming its commitment to investing in the development of Saint Lucia's future workforce.
