Saint Lucia is ready to embrace opportunities for foreign direct investment and has a welcoming business climate, she said.

Her Excellency Ms. Menissa Rambally, Saint Lucia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, last Friday rang the NASDAQ stock market closing bell in celebration of Saint Lucia’s 36th Anniversary of Independence.

Addressing attendees at the closing bell ceremony, Ms. Rambally said: "My colleagues and I are delighted to mark Saint Lucia's 36th Anniversary of Independence at NASDAQ's closing bell ceremony. Saint Lucia thanks you for the opportunity to share this world-renowned exchange platform.

"Although we are a small island nation from the Caribbean, we are proud that our country has become a vibrant participant on the world stage. We are known for many special features, including being the smallest island with two Nobel Laureates, one in Literature, the other in Economics; and we have built a reputation for being one of the world's most outstanding tourist destinations, particularly a honeymoon destination.

"We want you to know that Saint Lucia is a country open and ready to embrace opportunities for foreign direct investment. I invite you to consider us as a place for innovative capital investment and welcome your companies to explore opportunities for doing business with us. We are geographically close to North America, just four hours by flight to JFK, and I can assure you that the weather is warm sunshine and certainly a welcoming business climate.

"I want to wish the NASDAQ continued success and all Saint Lucians a happy Independence anniversary."

The bell ceremonies at the NASDAQ MarketSite serves as a platform to generate exposure. Each feature is broadcast on the NASDAQ Webcam, MarketSite Tower and participating television networks, reaching millions of viewers worldwide.
