A FLOOD WARNING IS IN EFFECT FROM 4 TO 10 P.M. ON MAY 12.
Significant moisture and instability associated with a shearline are currently affecting the island producing heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms. Showers over the past 12 hours in Saint Lucia have resulted in rainfall accumulations exceeding 25.4 millimeters (1 inch). Additional rainfall is expected over the next six hours. The risk of flooding and landslides in vulnerable areas is elevated during this period.
As a result, the Saint Lucia Meteorological Services is issuing a Flood Warning for Saint Lucia, effective from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. today, Monday, May 12. Residents and motorists, especially in areas prone to flooding and landslides, are strongly advised to exercise caution. Residents are urged to stay alert for further updates from the Saint Lucia Meteorological Services and NEMO.
