THE BOOK, TITLED MY STORY, YOUR VOICE PROVIDES VIVID INSIGHT INTO SAMUELS’ DEVELOPING YEARS.

One of Saint Lucia’s most noted journalists has documented his life’s story.

David Samuel’s autobiography is titled “My Story, Your Voice.” The book provides vivid insight into Samuels’ developing years. The noted journalist was fanned as a teenager. He was a singing heartthrob with the Tru Tones band in the late 60’s.

At the book launch, Samuels explained that his broadcast skills are part of his biographical make-up, adding that his 12-year stint within the tourism industry was telling. Samuels said it is encouraging to know that his life has had such a positive impact.

“I don’t think a day goes by in Saint Lucia that someone won’t come up to me and thank me for the impact I’ve had on them. It’s been truly extraordinary the wonderful things that people say, so I thank God for giving me that opportunity, and my role to seek answers to myriad questions when interviewing a broad range of people on radio and television.”

My Story, Your Voice includes interviews with former Governor General, Dame Pearlette Louisy, former prime ministers, Sir John Compton and Dr. Kenny D. Anthony, and Prime Minister Hon. Allen Chastanet. The book also features George Odlum, who is credited for the political education of thousands of Saint Lucians.

Prime Minister Chastanet first met Samuels when he was employed at Halcyon Beach Club.

“I then had the great opportunity of interacting with Dave once more when I was the Minister of Tourism, and then this time was in the prime of his radio show. The excellence, the genuine thought, and the time that went into preparing for an interview has become a lost art. When I was interviewed by him, he was so well prepared.”

Mr. Samuels said the title of the book came about because wherever he went people always commented on his voice and how it has influenced them over the years. Therefore, he always acknowledged his voice as a God given gift to be shared with Saint Lucia and its people.

The book was officially launched on Friday, Sep. 21.
