Students will now resume normal class schedules with the completion of major refurbishment works.
The Corinth Secondary School is officially off the shift system, instituted just over one year ago to accommodate construction work on the institution. The newly constructed extention replaces a termite infested building - the cause of much discomfort to students and teachers.
Minister for Education, Human Resource Development and Labour, Hon. Dr. Robert Lewis, expressed satisfaction with the completed works and that normalcy had returned to the institution.
"The new buildings have been turned over to the school and therefore I am very excited, and I am sure parents are very happy to know that their children can get a full day of school, " he said.
The major works include construction of the class-room extension, a covered multi-purpose space and the realignment of the school's sewerage and drainage system. The Corinth Secondary School is amongst four others being refurbished under the Basic Education Enhancement Project, BEEP.
Dr. Lewis took time to congratulate the workers employed under the BEEP for their delivery of , but he says there is more work to complete.
"The projects have gone well, by and large, whether its at Fond Assau - we still have some works to complete there - the Clendon Mason [Secondary] is not yet finished, but it will be in maybe the next two months and the Vieux Fort Infant has gone back to the school," said the Minister for Education.
