REQUEST FOR RETIREMENT AND ASSOCIATED BENEFITS

Process: Submission of the various requests to the Unit, along with all supporting documents.
Compulsory Retirement -
  • request is forwarded to the Ministry of the Public Service for onward submission to the Accountant General for payment.

  • The Ministry of the Public Service would inform employee when they should contact the Accountant General for payment.

Early Retirement -
  • the request is forwarded to the Teaching Service Commission (Teaching Staff) or the Ministry of the public Service (Administrative Staff) and then to the Governor General for approval.

  • After approval it is forwarded to the Ministry of the Public Service for onward submission to the Accountant General for payment.

  • The Ministry of the Public Service would inform employee when they should contact the Accountant General for payment.

Retirement on Medical Grounds –
  • The recommendation is forwarded to the Teaching Service Commission (Teaching Staff) or the Ministry of the Public Service (Administrative Staff) for onward submission to the Ministry of Health.

  • The Medical Board convenes a meeting with the individual and their decision is communicated to the relevant authority.

  • If approved the recommendation is forwarded to the Ministry of the Public Service for onward submission to the Accountant General for payment.
Requirements: (Early Retirement) – Justifiable reason for request, Option letter, birth certificate and any document indicating change of name
(Compulsory Retirement) – Option letter, birth certificate and any document indicating change of name
