Veronica Adley was the first female ever to enlist in the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force in 1958.
The Royal Saint Lucia Force would like to pay tribute to one of its own retired officers, Mrs. Veronica Adley of Hospital Road, Castries, who passed away on Sunday, Nov. 30.
Mrs. Adley was the first female ever to enlist in the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force in 1958. She retired at the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police after 31 years of service to the organization.
On Thursday, Nov. 27, the Commissioner and other members of his hierarchy paid a call to the residence of Mrs. Adley during the Police Week’s sick and shut-in visits to retired police officers. The 80-year-old retiree was in good spirits and spoke fondly of her days within the organization. She remained in touch with the organization, she said, by tuning in every Wednesday to the police radio program on Radio St. Lucia “Call the Police.”
It is with deep sadness that the RSLPF conveys condolences to the family of this pioneer officer. The Commissioner of Police and officers say they are indeed happy to have shared the last moments of her life.
